The New Low Carbon Champion Awards Reveal Shortlist

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) has announced the shortlist for its first ever ‘Low Carbon Champion Awards’, one company making the shortlist is TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk.

Companies at the forefront of cutting carbon emissions from road transport will be honoured at a new awards ceremony this week when the not-for-profit organisation announces the winners tonight (July 14) .

The inaugural LowCVP Low Carbon Champion Awards are designed to recognise best practice in vehicle manufacturers, fuel suppliers, fleet operators, products and services providers that reduce greenhouse gases the road transport sector.

The LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards Dinner is being held in association with this year’s WhatCar? Green Awards.

Greg Archer, Managing Director of the LowCVP, said: “These awards define excellence and innovation, identifying the leaders in accelerating the shift to low carbon vehicles and fuels. The quality of the 50 plus entries was exceptional and demonstrates the vibrancy of UK businesses and organisations in striving to create new markets for lower carbon vehicles.”

Following a rigorous judging process, a total of 22 companies and organisations have made the awards shortlist.

Now in its seventh year, the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) Annual Conference 2010, of which the Awards ceremony forms a part, is the UK’s largest independent conference for low carbon transport. This year’s event will see Transport Minister Norman Baker deliver the Government’s first major speech on low carbon transport. There will also be major announcements, from other bodies, on the sustainability of biofuels, trials of hybrid buses in London and a new low carbon road map for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).

The LowCVP Annual Conference & Awards Dinner 2010 takes place on Wednesday and Thursday July 14 -15 at Twickenham Stadium, West London.

Awards include a Buses Award, Fuel Supplier or Retailer Award, Innovation Award, Low Carbon Road Transport Programme Award, Road Freight Award, Special Award (for which TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk has been shortlisted) and the Low Carbon Car Communication Award. Other shortlisted firms include One North East, the Department for Transport, Smith Electric Vehicles, BMW, Mitsubishi Motors, THINK Global, Iveco, Greenergy Fuels, Alexander Dennis Ltd, Intelligent Energy and Vauxhall.

Meanwhile the WhatCar? Green Awards which honours the ‘greenest’ cars in a host of different sectors from superminis to SUVs will also announce its winners this Wednesday.

The LowCVP is a non-profit, action and advisory group, established to take a lead in accelerating the shift to low carbon vehicles and fuels in the UK.
